Jewelry Findings Guide

If you are a beginner in jewelry making, you will probably come across the term "jewelry findings" in the process. Jewelry findings are the pieces that link beads together. This includes components such as earrings, clasps, fasteners, connectors and endings. Listed below are different kinds of findings within these components:

Earrings - Fish Hook, Kidney Wire, Lever Back, Ear Post w/Nut, Ear String, Hoops, Chandeliers and Ear Clips

Clasps & Fasteners (Holds jewelry together. Magnetic clasps, toggles & s-hooks make the piece easier to get on and off.) - Barrel Clasp, Trailer Hitch, Toggles, S-Hooks, Filigree, Spring Ring, Lobster and Magnetic

Connectors - Eye Pins (ideal for making chains), Head Pins (ideal for creating charms), Jump Rings (connects two loops) and Double Rings/Split Rings (connects two loops--slips on like a key ring)

Endings (Essential for providing appropriate "endings" to strands within various types of jewelry designs.) - Crimp Beads & Tubes (ideal for ending a strand of beads), End Crimps/End Connectors (ideal for use with hemp, leather or ribbon cording), Double Cup Connectors (also called bead tips and ideal for hiding knots and connecting to closures), Crimp Coil Necklace End (ideal for use with leather cord) and Cones (used for connecting the ends of multi-strand projects--the cones hide the knots)

Making Original Doll Jewelry From Wine Charm Findings & Alphabet Beads!

By using a package of our Wine Charm Findings, you can create a doll choker and four bracelets. By adding alphabet beads, you can personalize jewelry for your doll. Or, use any of our other beads to match one of your dolls' outfits. You can even make matching jewelry for both you and your doll. You will want to bend both ends of the rings with a 3-in-1 Combination Tool or needle nose pliers to keep the beads from sliding off. The smaller rings make nice bracelets for a 22" baby doll, 15" Bitty Baby, or 23" My Twinn, and the larger ring makes a unique choker for your 18" dolls, such as American Girl, Magic Attic and Springfield Collection or 23" My Twinn.
