"I never failed to recognize that I am a potter that
writes
not a writer who makes pots."
Ideas like this fill stacks of note cards
that David Shaner jotted down throughout his days, a stack that compiled quotes,
thoughts and ideas from conversations and readings, and his own developing
philosophies about the relationship between humans and nature, pottery and
art.
When you visit the exhibition's study area, you can read a
selection of Shaner's note cards, then add comments and notes of your own. You
can also browse through reproductions of photographs taken by Shaner, prints
which functioned as photographic note-taking and read essays and publications about
his work and
its relationship to Land Arts today.

Joseph Pintz'
functional and sculptural ceramic work explores the role that domestic objects
play in fulfilling our physical and emotional needs. Inspired by his Midwestern
roots, Pintz often recreates hand tools and other seemingly mundane
objects. In the process, the dense meaning of these objects is
transferred into clay. For the first time, The Gallery [http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?et=1103515430002&s=10882&e=001mrjrI7rg7ZTCB2jXJHByl5yX5WF4kbCithAGJwSWecbVEpDtC7W-Uyq9Vyz1bXW0EVOUIFDyII6296uvEjMi2ommJkc_zvzdDaaODojNiy6PRz_0L94Klv4QdjVHmKDnGWovjiy9P9hATrn0CrMJ4W7GdhBGcz76]will
