craft tips
hairgirlAdd soft sheen and fragrance to your hair by making a simple rosemary hair rinse.

Rosemary Hair Rinse Recipe

Place four cups of water (preferably distilled) in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Remove from heat and add 1/2 cup of dried rosemary leaves. To soften the water, you may also stir in 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda or 1/2 teaspoon of borax (found in the laundry aisle).

Let the infusion steep and cool for a few hours, then strain and bottle. Use a plastic squeeze bottles for easy application. Use 1/2 cup to 1 cup as the final rinse after washing hair. Do not rinse out; simply dry your hair and set as usual.

See our Bath and Beauty Crafts for more cosmetic recipes.

Reuse Two Plastic Straws

Before starting a knitting or crocheting pattern with two yarn colors, slip a straw over the end of each yarn skein. The straw sleeves help keep the yarns from tangling as you work.

Make a Recycled Craft Organizer

Save an empty tissue box and several smaller boxes or toilet rolls. Slit the tissue box from the opening to all four corners, push the flaps down and glue in place. Now cut smaller boxes and toile t rolls to the height of the tissue box. Glue these inside the tissue box to organize craft supplies such as brushes, rulers, pencils, scissors, paper clips and glue.

See our Recycling Crafts for more creative re-uses.
