Planting Secrets
There's an adage among gardeners: Dig a $10 hole for a $5 tree. In other words get your new treasures off to a great start by planting them right: Dig a hole at least twice as wide as the pot, but no deeper. Check out more tips for annuals and perennials, bulbs, and trees and shrubs.
Time-Saving Tip:
Fill your planting holes with the soil you dug from them. Resist the temptation to fill the holes with rich, amended soil. Otherwise, roots may not grow outside them.
