| | | | | | Day 1 | | Master the Art of Color | | Welcome to our special series on designing the garden of your dreams! Over the next five days, we'll give you the secrets to garden design. That way, you can brighten an existing garden or get off on the right foot if you're starting from scratch. First, master the art of color. If you're not sure what colors to use in your yard, look at your house and see what shades you decorate with most. Also, open your clothes closet. What color do you see most? That's a great color for your garden! Accent your main color with similar ones for a cohesive look; for example, try reds with oranges and yellows. Or go bold and go on the opposite side of the color wheel for the accent shade. For example, try punctuating blue or purple with orange or yellow. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Ideas from Public Gardens | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Meredith Corporation, 1716 Locust Street, Des Moines, IA 50309 ® Copyright 2010.
