Step 2
Getting Started
The fun starts after you pick a spot for your new garden. Just gather a few tools (be sure to have a good pair of gloves, a shovel or spade, and a wheelbarrow or garden cart), then use sand, flour, or spray paint to mark the perimeter of your garden bed. If there's grass growing in the spot, remove it and put it in your compost bin so it can improve your garden's soil next year.
Effort-Saving Tip:
Invest in good-quality tools—they'll help do some of the job for you. A sharp shovel blade, for example, slices through soil much more easily than a dull blade. That means it's less work for you to dig.
